United Nations DOS — Coaching a Senior Leadership Team Through Management Reform

1. Client question
The Senior Leadership Team (SLT) of the Department of Operational Support at the United Nations, led by Under-Secretary-General Khare, asked Pasas to design a management team retreat and support the team through a major and urgent management reform. The challenge was to help the leadership team navigate a paradigm shift in Secretariat management through decentralisation, delegation and simplification, in line with the UN reform agenda.

2. Pasas approach
Pasas designed a flexible two-day retreat in New York tailored to the specific dynamics and urgency of the context. In parallel, Pascal acted as a sparring partner to the leadership team and the USG, helping shape the content and focus of the intervention. He also set up a 360° feedback process and facilitated GROW coachings to support reflection, alignment and individual leadership development within the wider reform context.

3. Impact
The intervention helped the Senior Leadership Team create space for honest reflection and stronger alignment at a time of high pressure and institutional change. By combining strategic retreat design, executive coaching and structured feedback, Pasas supported the team in strengthening leadership coherence, clarifying priorities and increasing readiness to lead the reform in a credible and accountable way.
